man ive also gotten hit w/ that intense ari lovin phase
SOLIDARITY ANON
SOLIDARITY ANON
I mean, no amount of episodes are necessarily filler. Just because they dont directly relate to the overarching plot doesnt mean they’re there just to fill episode space for no reason. The crew have explained before that all action and no breathers amounts to fans becoming exhausted with all the lore being thrown at them at once. That, and the fact that Steven should spend equal time with both halves of his life: human and gem. He needs to connect with people that dont know gem culture or his magical world, and hes been shown to need a balance (and its been shown that the balance pays off).
And also, people seem to forget we’re on Homeworld right now. The next episode, unless they break their #1 “Steven’s POV always” rule, will guaranteed be on Homeworld and advance that side of the story. The only reason it feels like hiatuses end with “boring” townie episodes is because of the way CN airs them. I was watching AwestruckVox’s video Cartoon Network is Killing Steven Universe, and while I’m not the biggest fan of him and his actions from the past, he makes really good points about CN’s treatment of the scheduling, and IIRC he mentions how after Wanted, they left off on a bad place to stop (Steven gets home and Lars is still in space), showed a clip at SDCC that wouldn’t be aired until the following year, and then came off an ungodly hiatus with townie episodes. People may not think the way you’re thinking, anon, if these specials ended on townie episodes and came back with lore episodes. That’s why people feel so strongly about “bad filler,” it’s not filler nor bad in itself, it just feels that way because we wait so long on hiatuses.
I mean ive looked up a lot of stuff online about it but idk how credible each site is but it’s all pretty fitting like the high and low episodes and stuff. It’s hard to explain without sounding like I just googled it and pasted the symptoms here but that’s how close it is
Lol it’s a common mistake because it’s not a common word, most people just say “mother of pearl” but then my url would be clunky (motherofpearlpearl avdjahdjx)
I wish it was just a stress issue haha after I shower I always feel lightheaded because of some physical issue–whether it be just a b12 deficiency, POTS, or postural hypotension–combined with the hot water/steam. I physically cant stand too long or sit up too quickly without feeling dizzy as hell and in cases where I stand up too long (typically ~30 minutes is my limit) I faint. It sucks not having anywhere to sit in the bathroom anymore besides the floor so I just Dont Sit. And then I don’t eat until after my shower which makes it worse and we have no breakfast foods in the room and I cant risk walking or biking and exerting the little energy I have going to the dining hall
It’s been an issue for years, the worst episodes happened in middle school where 1) in my 7th grade chorus class my teacher made us stand on the stands the whole period (40 minutes) and this was early in the morning and I hadn’t eaten breakfast that day, so I pretended to tie my shoe every time I had to sit and i just ended up going down right at the end of class for like…. 5 seconds and then i was back. It was terrifying,,, what 12 year old knows what to do when their vision is blotchy and their ears are ringing (this was before I developed tinnitus agxkshfshjfns) and 2) in 8th grade they didnt let students go to their lockers or first period classes until 7:45 (the final bell rang at 7:57) and on my dads days when I didnt take the bus, hed drop me off at like 7:10 so he could go to work. We had to sit on the floor or stand because of course theres no where to sit. I was yelled at once on a different day for sitting at the empty front desk chair (the teacher didnt sit in it until she shoo’d me off. Bitch). So of course I’m standing for a whole ass 40 minutes and by the time the time to get my stuff comes I’m stumbling down the hall in a crowd of kids with my vision spotting and my ears ringing again and when I turn the hallway corner, I can make out the vague shape of a trash can and stumble into it as my vision got worse and then 5 steps later I reach my locker, touch my lock, and I drop the the floor. Raquel showed up bc her locker was close to mine and she got my stuff for me and brought me to first period italian, which we had together. The sub noticed I was pale as fuck and told me to go to the nurse when I could walk again and by the time I got to the nurse, it was like nothing happened so I DUNNO LOL
When I asked my doctor about it he didnt really say anything, just that it was a hereditary issue because my mom and grandpa both have/had it. I want to go back to the doctor and see what it is because I’m about ready to just say fuck it and get a wheelchair so I can sit down for once
AGSJDHSJDBDJ HOW IM TOLD I HAVE A PRETTY THERE LONG ISLAND ACCENT
God I dont even leave my ROOM
What makes you say that?
thank you!! :’) I know pretty much what they feel like (for me at least) but it was a different situation and I had just woken up so I was confused and still not really awake to really comprehend what happened (I had a nightmare in the form of a flashback at the tail end of my sleep last night) and i pretty much laid in bed for 3 more hours after i woke up confused and scared. lol i think i should start looking for some resources for ptsd huh
I say either each letter individually, but mostly i’ll just refer to it as “the train” or say Long Island railroad fully lol
I forgot about my post bc I was eating a mac and cheese/doritos dinner afskdhskdb. Also my dear anon I can Tell you are from anywhere but here because its “on” LI, never “in” but you’re valid, we’re just Like That
I havent been out to suffolk county much since I live in nassau but my favorite diner (every long islander has a fave diner) was the empress on the intersection of newbridge + hempstead tnpk. They closed for reason unknown to me but they had killer burgers
The cheesecake factory over in westbury is real good but that’s a chain, but still good
Lombardos pizza is god. I live on the same block as the place. The owner always gives me like 6 extra knots no matter how many I order bc I’m a regular. He still gives me the student special even tho I’m not a high schooler anymore. Long island pizza is just superior and you cant change my mind, fuck chicago fake pizza or wherever talk to me when your crust is crispy and panko breadcrumb coated deliciousness with just the right amount of sauce
Bageltown is the god of the bagel places. Located in my cozy busy hometown Levittown. Again Long island bagels are just Superior. People will tell you it’s the salt water air from the sound and ocean and they’re fucking correct what else would it be????? Magic??
This is a chinese food place but Peking house is amazing. Cheap, friendly delivery drivers, godlike tempura sweet + sour chicken. Used to live across a main road from it but then we moved
THE COW. the cow. The Cow. It’s a tiny dairy mart in the tri county back parking lot, right near the high school. Literally. Every single senior would go to the cow at least three times a week to get lunch bc seniors had open campus privileges. The owner got to know each of us quick and if you went often enough you could walk in and your usual order was already on the ticket hung up for the cook. I went once after graduation with my mom before work and as soon as I relayed my (fairly simple) breakfast sandwich he said “I remember you!!” And he asked about college and stuff. They’re so sweet I love them. It’s called the cow because it’s painted like a cow with the spots
Any deli. Literally any deli please go to one and if you say sub sandwich theyll understand but will know you’re not a local
Millers Ale house is a staple. We go there a lot when we want to be waited on but dont want to go to a fancy restaurant. It’s tucked between a few buildings but it’s there. Really good steak but they do make it a bit dry if you ask well done so I usually get medium well (itit’s a perfect well done steak that way and not too seared that it gets dry). Also in levittown I really don’t get out much
Izumi is the best hibachi place ive been to, but if you want just as good for a bit cheaper, mt. Fuji in wantagh is amazing and the chefs are very lively and engage just enough where it’s perfect but not disruptive to your own conversations (I only say that bc one place I went to the chef went a bit overboard with entertainment, which isnt bad, but it was a get together for my aunts birthday so we wanted to see the show + then eat and converse, not all 3 at once)
I’m still kind of a picky eater so I just really listed the places I frequent and like the menu they have, but there’s TONS of stuff around esp if you go to the north fork where the wineries and clam farms are
