obviously boys in the fandom are allowed to enjoy whatever content they want, but when its a blog run by a man thats just full of porn with wlw characters you, as a lesbian, gotta be sus
Protoformx wants you to look for him in your blocked list just in case you did accidentally block him.
you must be him. no one would be so desperate to know why some random su blogger blocking their blog full of su porn that they have as a male than the person themself. lol I intentionally blocked him because its a porn blog dude, and run by a guy at that so I dont trust like that. Normally I wouldnt care that Stephen Galaxy blogs follow me but youre so adamant about why I blocked and thats makin me sus. bye
on that note one thing i will always love the su fandom for is how many solely wlw fics (smut or not) there are. my entire fandom experiences prior were generic straight usamamo fics written by 12 year old girls (still love them but also………….. senshi ships Good. love those lesbians) or the horny teens writing eremin fluff/smut
Peridot, who was created well after the Diamond uprising, talking to Pearl like she’s a common servant and Pearl wanting to smack her. She gets that punch in during the robot fight though.
Pearl eventually asking Peridot about what’s been happening on Homeworld and being horrified by what her planet has become under the Diamonds
Pearl terrified when Peridot calls Yellow Diamond, then furious when she sees the poor pearl serving her.
Here’s a bit of writing muscle-stretching I did the other day, super fast hour-ish warmup/block-breaking kind of deal, because it’s been forever and I’m miserable. Vaguely going off the recent promo. ~950 words of Pearls, because what else?
—
“Pink?”
Yellow squeaks out as soon as the throne room doors have closed behind Gemkind’s
most lustrous and illustrious, and Pearl is jolted out of her hand-wringing
over their youngest member, so very far out of his depth.
She
also manages not to outwardly scowl at the name. For now. “Hello, Yellow.”
“I told
you,” Blue pipes up in that tiny voice that still somehow never fails to carry
when she wants it to. “I told you it was her. I saw her. With the Sapphire at
the Zoo…”
“Unbelievable!”
Yellow’s tone seems far too grating to be something one would miss, and yet
Pearl finds she is more than glad to hear it. “How are you even alive? And what
in the stars are you wearing?”
“I wear
whatever I want, thank you very much,” Pearl replies just as haughtily. But then
she allows her voice to soften. “I’m… really glad to see you two. I’m glad
you’re…” safe, she wants to say, but that’s hardly ever true for any
pearl. Here feels just as wrong, if for different reasons entirely -
she’s often imagined having the two of them by her side, on Earth. Certainly
not on doorway decorating duty, and definitely nowhere near diamonds when
tensions were running so high, and when… White Diamond might possibly
get involved.
The
very thought makes her shudder from head to toe, but Yellow is already there,
prattling on.
“Well,
it’s good to have you back, however strange the situation might be at the
moment. We always were best as a set.” Yellow nods sagely. “I assume your
return means your Diamond won’t be having you do any more bizarre things.”
“He’s
not… she… I wasn’t ordered to do anything!” Pearl is quick to snap back, as it
is a sore point that’s been prodded far too much recently, and an argument
she’s had with so many over the centuries - including herself. Especially
herself. But then she remembers hands pressed over her mouth, gentle as flower
petals but immovable as stone, and, well - if she can’t be honest with her
current company and hope they understand that particular situation, who ever
will? “That’s… that’s not quite true. There was… one thing.”
One
thing with all the weight of the world, pressing down - now gone.
“But
you know what? I decided that I didn’t like it, and that it was wrong.
Certainly, considering the problems it was causing us, there had been a
miscalculation and oversight on… Pink Diamond’s part.” Pearl’s voice drops to
an even lower, even more conspiratorial whisper - even though they are
perfectly alone and disregarded as only pearls get to be, and her audience is
already captivated by her talk of a diamond’s fallibility. “So I disobeyed a direct
order.”
Blue’s
reaction is a gasp she moves to muffle immediately. Yellow allows herself the
full drama of a shocked hand raised to her gem and an incredulous “You didn’t!”
“Oh yes
I did!” Pearl shoots back, giddiness rising.
It was
fear filling her at first, when she at long last managed to let Steven know the
secret - a terror of it finally, finally coming to light, the magnitude of what
it would mean for him, for all of them, as well as a much more dense, personal,
selfish fear of how their perception of her would change. Then the most potent
relief she’d ever known, warring with endless regret and frustration with
herself because she hadn’t managed to tell them all sooner. Because she’d
failed when it had been so important, when it could have saved them so much
pain (but she fights that down and stashes it away again and again - the could
haves and should haves and desperate whys are for some other
Pearls to deal with). And all of it finally brewing into a veritable cocktail
of emotions flying every which way, with Sapphire and Ruby- and Bismuth- and
Garnet- and the Diamonds of all Gems-!
But
now? There is no other name she can put to the feeling bubbling insistently up
inside her other than pride.
She did
it, after all. She figured it out, and she did it! The terrifying renegade
pearl, the quickest thinker of the notorious Rebellion, a whirlwind with both a
sharp blade and a sharp mind, and armed with a willingness to use them -
finding a loophole and throwing off the yoke thought to be baked into her very
nacre, a fundamental limitation of her gem type that made so many so very
complacent and so very careless in their dealings with pearls. And if she could
share it, if she could encourage it in others…
She’s
imagined running away often enough in her life. Clever warp skipping. Bluffing
all the way to the Crystal System. Stealing away on a ship bound for the
Earth’s wilderness, or just stealing one outright.
This,
she imagines, feels almost as good.
“Tell
us how.”
She’s
never heard Blue be this demanding. There is a new dimension to the looks she and
Yellow both have fixed on her, and a new weight. So she rushes to oblige.
“Well…
it was a rather interesting workaround, if I do say so myself. And quite…
situational. But the finer points will take some explaining. Luckily,” Pearl
allows some of that age-old disgust at being reduced to idle hallway
ornamentation to seep through, “we seem to find ourselves with plenty of time on
our hands.”
The
Diamonds, upon their return, find the pearls nowhere near where they left them
to wait, and certainly not at hand to open any doors. Instead, the three are seated comfortably in a decorative nook, huddled
together over a phone, engaged in an increasingly lively discussion about the inner workings, potential, and many uses of the not-quite-holopad.
i survived too much steven universe discourse to have to suffer through a new age of she-ra discourse
unless she-ra personally commits a hate crime, i dont want to see you grown ass adults attempting to philosophically dissect yet another kids show
REMEMBER WHEN PPL TRIED TO SAY STEVEN UNIVERSE WAS PRO FASCIST
but it is??? like maybe they didn’t mean to be pro fascist bc Rebecca Sugar is too incompetent to do anything on purpose but it is like. irreparably pro fascist.
I don’t understand how y’all look at Steven genuinely trying to befriend dictators who’ve committed genocide on innumerable accountsand are intolerant of deviation from the norm unless they can weaponize it, and say that’s not fascism.
Like you can still watch the show and everything (hell I will myself) but. That’s literally the textbook definition of fascism.
Rebecca Sugar probably didn’t mean to write it that way, but the fact is that she wrote a narrative that condonesforgiving people no matter how terrible they are, to the point where it is apologizing for people who’ve willingly committed genocide, which is a hallmark of fascism.
Steven trying to turn the Diamonds to his side is fine. But the point where it crosses into fascist apologia is when she started trying to write the Diamonds as sympathetic. You cannot write fascist dictators as sympathetic and not expect to get called out on it.
You know what? Fuck it. I haven’t posted a single fucking thing to this blog yet, but you cretins have disgusted me so much that I just can’t take it anymore. This is the last straw. I’m not going to argue with you, because there is no argument. You just parroted a really stupid narrative that’s gotten somewhat popular lately, and I’m gonna tell you exactly why it’s stupid.
“Steven is genuinely trying to befriend dictators!” No. Steven is trying to protect his family and his planet, and he’s trying to save all the corrupted gems. His strategy, for now, is to get on their good side and appeal to their emotions by reminding them that they’re family (which they technically are). There has been no indication in the show that Steven likes the diamonds or that he forgives or excuses the atrocities they’ve committed. He empathizes, because he literally has empathy powers and he can’t physically help it. That is not the same thing as forgiveness, or even sympathy.
“Recebba wrote fascist, genocidal dictators as being sympathetic, which is a Bad.” No. You know what’s bad? SYMPATHIZING WITH REAL LIFE GENOCIDAL DICTATORS. Sympathizing with Hitler and calling him a poor, misunderstood artist is BAD! You know what isn’t bad? Fucking giving your fictional villains more than one dimension! Giving them some fucking personality, some damn motivation. It kind of makes for a more compelling story, you know? You might even say that the Diamonds are multifaceted, harr harr. Anyway, I don’t know how to tell you that the Diamonds are cartoon space aliens who are more comparable to indifferent goddesses or queen bees than they are to nazis. I guess calling the sjw cartoon “fascist propaganda” makes for a juicy narrative, which brings me to my next point:
“I’m sure Recebba didn’t MEAN to write fascist propaganda! She’s just too incompetent, that’s all. That
dumb, stupid, weak, pathetic, white, white… uh, uh, guilt, white guilt, milquetoast piece of human garbage.”
This is really what makes me the most crazy. I’m sure that people know that Rebecca Sugar is Jewish (incidentally, this means that nazis don’t see her as “white,” or even as a human being). I’m sure that they know that she’s a bisexual, Jewish, non-binary woman who’s in love with a black man. It’s more like they just don’t care. “B-b-b-but just because she’s Jewish herself doesn’t mean that she can’t accidentally write fascist propaganda! She’s just a bad writer!” Yeah, no. Do you honestly believe that Sugar, who lives in America as a Jew, who uses the internet as a Jew, who has a Jewish family, who is descended from a gotdamn Holocaust survivor, and who (alongside her partner, Ian) has survived white supremacist violence herself, doesn’t know a thing or two about what it feels like to be hunted? It shows so clearly in her work, too. It shows in how desperately the Crystal Gems fight to defend the Earth and their way of life, it shows in how the Off Colors desperately hide themselves for the sake of their survival, and it shows in how miserable and stifled the lower caste homeworld gems are in their rigidly strict assigned roles.
So, why do all the great, critical thinkers of this nightmare hell site call this show “fascist propaganda?”
Because Steven is squeamish about the idea of killing. Because the villains where shown to have a little depth. That’s it!
The fact that so many people are willing to interpret this show in such bad faith really astounds me. If you don’t like the show, then you don’t like the show. Maybe the show makes you deeply uncomfortable. That’s fine; the show is supposed to be uncomfortable. It shows emotion in all its raw irrationality; it puts mental illness on full display and it doesn’t squirm away from showcasing the consequences of trauma. The good guys do fucked up things sometimes, and the bad guys appear sympathetic sometimes. There’s nothing fascist about that, and it certainly isn’t bad writing. In fact, it’s so real that it’s uncomfortable. And that’s a good thing.
